I’m Jeff Grover, the Process Engineering Manager at Volpi Group’s Auburn, NY site. I lead the process engineering team, which handles design transfers and industrialization. Our main role is transitioning product designs from R&D to mass production and ensuring ongoing process improvement and life cycle management.
Originally from Kinderhook, NY, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from SUNY Polytechnic Institute. My career started at Welch Allyn Medical Products, later part of Baxter International. I developed my process engineering skills during my 12-year tenure and attended training programs like the AAMI FDA cGMP Quality System Requirements & Industry Practice, Toyota 8 Step Lean Problem-Solving Method, and the Hill-Rom Reliability Engineering Program. Later, I pursued an MS degree in Engineering Management at Syracuse University. This diversified my skill set, with a focus on areas like engineering economics, supply chain management, and Lean Six Sigma.
I manage a dynamic, challenging, and rewarding routine at Volpi’s location in Auburn. After setting the day’s priorities, I update our scrum boards, discuss any concerns with my team, and stay available for support. I also meet with stakeholders, Swiss counterparts, suppliers, and customers. This collaboration is key to learning about other projects in the company and finding opportunities to work together.
Apart from managing my team, I handle individual projects like industrializing new products, continuous improvement activities, or solving production issues. I strive to create innovative solutions that meet technical and business needs, aiming for high-quality results that surpass expectations.
Team management is a fulfilling part of my role. I set goals, guide, and mentor my team, promoting open communication and collaboration. This investment in my team members contributes to our department’s and company’s success.
Outside work, I am a father to two daughters and have hobbies like cycling and cooking. I live in NY’s Finger Lakes region, where I enjoy spending time outdoors. These activities help me unwind and stay focused.
