Thomas Lanz took over as Head of Research and Development Volpi Group as of March 2025. He first joined Volpi in 2020 as Lead Systems Engineer, bringing his expertise in optoelectronics and systems engineering to the development of advanced optical measurement solutions. In 2022 he was appointed Head of Optical Measurement Systems. In addition, he has been leading the integration of generative AI tools and agile methodologies. Before joining Volpi, Thomas worked in the development of optical sensor solutions for process analytics at Mettler-Toledo. Earlier in his career, he conducted research on thin-film optoelectronics in display and photovoltaic applications, with stints in Korea and Sweden. With a PhD in Photonics from EPFL and an MSc in Physics from ETH Zurich, Thomas brings a deep technical foundation and a strong commitment to innovation.
